Richard Word has been named the new Director of the Port of Greenville, succeeding longtime Port Director Tommy Hart. Hart retired at the end of 2025 after years of dedicated leadership, and Word has officially taken over the role. As the new director, Word will oversee the continued growth and operations of one of Mississippi's key inland ports.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss. recently met with commissioners from the Mississippi Levee Board and Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board to discuss the potential impact of rising floodwaters in the Mississippi and Yazoo River basins and to address projects to improve flood control infrastructure in the state.
